HOUSTON, Texas — Charges have been filed against a third suspect in connection with the fatal shooting of an 18-year-old man and the wounding of another individual at 5410 North Braeswood Boulevard on May 24. Isaiah Crooms, a 19-year-old, is charged with capital murder and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, according to the Houston Police Department.
Two other suspects, 19-year-old Miles Julian Edwards and 18-year-old Zion Armon Mitchell, are also facing charges of capital murder and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon in various criminal district courts. The victim has been identified as Kenneth Leaks, 18, according to the HPD Homicide Division.
HPD patrol officers responded to Memorial Hermann Southwest Hospital after a male was admitted with a gunshot wound. The victim was transported to the hospital by a private vehicle, and officers were informed that the shooting occurred in the parking lot of an apartment complex at the aforementioned address. Witnesses reported that the victim was meeting an individual for a transaction when he was approached by several black males. During the exchange, one suspect retrieved a firearm and shot Mr. Leaks, striking him at least once. Another male, 17, was also struck by gunfire but suffered non-life-threatening injuries…
