SPOKANE, Wash. — Nearly three weeks after the Spokane City Council unanimously approved the “Safe and Accessible Spaces” ordinance, many community members say they are optimistic about how it is being enforced.

The ordinance gives Spokane police more discretion in clearing or arresting unauthorized camping on public property.
