Menands Seventh Grader Leads Effort to Improve School Environment and Address Bullying

Makayla Levin, a seventh-grade student at Menands, took steps to address bullying after seeing new students being targeted earlier this year. Levin, who was once a new student herself, used skills from recent school training to respond to the issue. She organized an advisory circle in Mrs. Ervin’s class. In this group, students discussed bullying and worked together to improve the school environment. Levin says the situation has improved since then.

Principal Kathleen Wylie praised Levin for her leadership. Wylie said Levin helped bring students together and made a positive difference in the school community…
