Man who starved dog to death, lit it on fire headed to prison

ALBANY, N.Y. (WNYT) – The man who admitted to starving a pit bull to death and setting it on fire in an Albany parking lot was sentenced on Thursday to up to 4 years in prison.

Christopher Maxwell kept the dog locked in a crate without food or water for several days at a home in Albany. Maxwell then left the area. Prosecutors said when he returned, the dog was dead.

Maxwell was seen on video taking the dog to a parking lot in the area of Fourth Avenue and Franklin Avenue, pouring lighter fluid on the crate, and setting it on fire. The dog was found by police on Feb. 24…
