AGY expansion to bring up to 100 new jobs to Aiken County

AIKEN COUNTY, S.C. (WJBF) — A major investment in Aiken’s manufacturing sector AGY is expanding again — this time to boost production tied to artificial intelligence.The company is planning a 12-and-a-half-million-dollar expansion on Wagener Road.The company says the added space will help meet global demand for specialty glass fibers used in A-I, defense and high-speed electronics.

“The industrial growth has good paying jobs, which is very important to us. You know, we don’t just select any company to partner with on these type things,” Aiken County Council Chairman Gary Bunker said.
