FWPD investigating fatal crash in northeast neighborhood

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) — A short police chase ended when the driver of a pickup truck crashed into a home in northeast Fort Wayne.

According to the Fort Wayne Police Department, around 10:15 p.m. Wednesday, an officer near Northcrest Shopping Center noticed a pickup speeding on N. Clinton St. The officer tried to catch up, and watched as the driver turned onto eastbound St. Joe Center Rd. and then entered the Papermill Bluffs neighborhood.

The officer caught up as the truck turned onto Papermill Crossing, and activated his emergency lights and siren. The driver continued at an excessively high rate of speed for a short distance before the truck left the road, hit two parked vehicles in a driveway, and crashed into a house in the 5700 block of Roaring Fork Run…
