Huntsville Police setting up DUI checkpoints across city

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) — The Huntsville Police Department announced on Wednesday that it will be carrying out traffic safety checkpoints on Friday for the upcoming holiday.

“As we enter one of the busiest travel periods of the year, keeping our roads safe matters more than ever,” HPD DUI Task Force Sergeant Antonio Shorter said. “We’re asking the community to partner with us. By increasing visibility, enforcement and public awareness, we can prevent crashes and save lives.”

HPD’s DUI Task Force may be conducting traffic stops at one or more of the locations below:

  • Jordan Lane and Sparkman Drive
  • Jordan Lane and Holmes Avenue
  • Mastin Lake Road and Pulaski Pike
  • Bankhead Parkway and Douglas Lane
  • Cecil Ashburn Drive and Old Big Cove Road
  • Church Street and Pratt Avenue
  • Clinton Avenue and Monroe Street
  • University Drive and Old Monrovia Road
  • University Drive and Research Park Boulevard
