Police arrest 2 after officer-involved shooting at Baton Rouge park

BATON ROUGE, La. (Louisiana First) — Two people were arrested after a shooting incident involving an officer at Baton Rouge park Tuesday night.

The Baton Rouge Police Department said an officer made contact with two people in a car at the Howell BREC Park on Winbourne Avenue after hours around 11:30 p.m. Tuesday. One of the people, Samuel Polk, 47, reportedly tried to flee on foot. Police said a physical altercation during a foot chase led to a shooting, which left Polk with a minor injury.

BRPD said Polk escaped. He was apprehended on Wednesday by law enforcement at a home in the 5500 block of Hooper Road and taken to a hospital to treat his injuries…
