DC man who threatened family on Metrobus with Uzi-style pistol gets 5 years

WASHINGTON (7News) — A D.C. man who pulled out a Uzi-style pistol on a Metrobus and threatened a family has been sentenced to five years in prison, according to federal officials.

Prosecutors said Ricardo Rush, 29, was sentenced Oct. 23 to 60 months after admitting to threatening two parents and their young children during a March 2025 incident. U.S. Attorney Jeanine Ferris Pirro announced the sentence.

Rush pleaded guilty on June 17 to unlawful possession of a firearm and ammunition by a felon, assault with a dangerous weapon, and possession of a firearm during a crime of violence or dangerous offense. Pirro’s office added that he will also serve three years of supervised release.

According to court documents, Rush boarded a WMATA bus around 11:26 a.m. on March 8 on the 300 block of Ridge Road SE. Moments later, a man and woman with two small children boarded on the 4800 block of Texas Avenue SE and sat in front of him. Rush began harassing the family, the agency said…
