CHICAGO — Some Chicago homeowners are seeing a major increase in their property tax bills this year as Downtown commercial real estate continues to suffer, according to a recent report from the Cook County Treasurer’s Office.
Overall, the median residential tax bill in Chicago rose 16.7 percent to $4,457, the largest percentage increase in the city in 30 years, according to Cook County Treasurer Maria Pappas’ office.
