WASHINGTON, D.C. (7News) — The opening of registration for D.C.’s Emergency Rental Assistance Program created a chaotic scene along New York Avenue.
Hundreds of people showed up for the registration, all vying for about 600 appointments to then apply for that assistance.
Those who turned up at the Department of Human Services office on Thursday told 7News the phone lines for the ERAP registration had been down, forcing them to come in person. Others said they had initially been sent to the wrong location…
