Birmingham man convicted of fatally shooting 14-year-old girl on her way to school

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WBRC) – A Birmingham man will spend the rest of his life behind bars after a jury convicted him of murdering a 14-year-old-girl and seriously injuring her mother in 2022.

A Jefferson County jury convicted Bruce Lanier Austin of capital murder and first degree assault Thursday, Nov. 20. Police said Austin fatally shot 14-year-old Moriah Quib-Marquez and injured her mother in November 2022.
