Deadly Deer Attack in Ohio Sparks Urgent Wildlife Warning

First off, this is a dark and sorrowful story. In no way am I making fun of the story at hand, but rather a reminder to not mess with wild animals—my condolences to the family of the deceased woman.

A woman in Ohio died from her wounds after a deer she was attempting to domesticate attacked her, according to WSYX, an ABC affiliate in Ohio. The article says the woman was “trapped inside a pen” with the deer.

The woman was pronounced dead at the scene, and police had to kill the deer.

Urban deer are not your pets

It’s a gruesome reminder that we shouldn’t need, but here we are. Although deer aren’t typically known to be aggressors, and definitely not known to kill people, they are still wild animals. We see them all the time in Missoula. They’re ubiquitous. I walk by deer and keep my eye on them because you never know.
