A man is in the hospital after authorities say he went onto White Oak High School’s campus while armed, stole a driver’s ed car, led law enforcement on a chase, then crashed into a home.
Dominic Dovantea Evins, 33, of Hubert, is currently being treated for non-life-threatening injuries at New Hanover Regional Medical Center.
Around 4:30 p.m., Onslow County Sheriff’s Office deputies received notification of an armed carjacking at White Oak High School, which they say involved the theft of a driver’s education vehicle. Officials say that two students and an instructor were in the vehicle at the time. Evins immediately fled the campus in the vehicle, which was spotted a short time later by authorities.
