HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) — The City of Huntsville says it has entered into an agreement to fund a project that will provide direct access to Interstate 565 from Redstone Arsenal Gate 9.
On Thursday, the city approved a funding agreement with the Alabama Department of Transportation for the first phase of the Resolute Way project. The agreement provides for $11.5 million for the project, which includes $2.3 million from the city. The remaining funds come from the Huntsville Area Metropolitan Planning Organization.

The city said that in partnership with the Arsenal, the project looks to make modifications to the I-565 exit 13 ramp westbound at Madison Boulevard to provide direct access to the Arsenal main entrance at Gate 9. The city said the project will enhance traffic flow by alleviating congestion at the I-565 and Research Park Boulevard interchange.
“Resolute Way is one of our top roadway priorities, and we are excited to see this project moving forward,” Mayor Tommy Battle said. “With the expanding missions at Redstone Arsenal, including U.S. Space Command and the FBI, it’s essential that the City rises to the occasion in support to help keep our nation safe. We are grateful for our partnership with the Alabama Department of Transportation and look forward to continuing to partner on many other projects in the region.”…
