Anthony “Papa Tony” Knox gave many reasons of gratitude – some patriotic and some practical – for receiving a Quilt of Valor from the Captain William Lytle Chapter, National Society Daughters of the American Revolution.
The organization presented Knox with the red, white and blue quilt that includes stars and American flag patches at a brief ceremony on Nov. 15 at the Heritage Center in Murfreesboro. Veterans are the recipients of the quilts.
Knox, who grew up in the Milton area of Rutherford County and is now a Murfreesboro resident, served with the Marines at three U.S. air bases in Vietnam during the Vietnam War. He said he enlisted at age 19 rather than be drafted…
