Rancho Cordova Mother Hailed as Hero for Saving Man from Burning Home on Zinfandel Drive

On a regular afternoon in Rancho Cordova, a simple act of vigilance blossomed into heroism as a local mother, after picking her son up from school, intervened in a potentially devastating house fire. Ashley Rand-Estrada was driving through the neighborhood when she observed smoke near a residence on Zinfandel Drive. Her swift response included rushing to warn the occupants, according to the ABC 10.

Discovering a shed already ablaze with the fire encroaching on the main house, Rand-Estrada took the initiative to enter the home after her knocks went unanswered. Inside, she located the sleeping homeowner, unaware of the danger surrounding him. Awakening the individual, she managed to get him to safety, stated Sac Metro Fire. Subsequently, before the arrival of emergency services, she employed a garden hose in an attempt to stifle the fire’s spread following the rescue.

Sacramento Metro Firefighters soon arrived at the scene on Zinfandel Drive, near Folsom Boulevard, and quickly set to work extinguishing the fire that had started in the shed and was spreading to the house.
