Syracuse Soapworks, a beloved local business in Hawley Green, is set to close its doors after twenty years of operation. The closure comes in the wake of an incident involving the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). Last Tuesday, ICE agents were spotted in the area, reportedly following one of the store’s owners who had overstayed his Visa. The owner, originally from France, was successfully escorted to Canada by members of the community and has since returned to his home country. The remaining owner has decided to close the store in order to reunite with his husband in France.
