Jacki Loomis has worked at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln’s School of Natural Resources since 1993. She serves as the events and retail coordinator. For over 25 years, she has managed the Nebraska Maps & More store. She oversees the publication of books, maps, posters, and other materials related to conservation, geology, and natural resources. Loomis answers public questions, organizes events, and manages sales at Hardin Hall and online, including on Amazon.
Loomis works with authors from different universities to publish materials. These publications display the University of Nebraska’s logo. Authors do not receive financial compensation. Loomis states that the university’s endorsement adds credibility to the publications. She collaborates with Matt Joeckel, director of the Conservation and Survey Division, to produce about five new publications each year. Store profits fund these projects. Loomis manages tasks such as printing, obtaining ISBNs, and securing Library of Congress listings.
The Nebraska Conservation and Survey Division was established in 1911. It has a long history of publishing scientific materials.
