Nursing shortage relief: UW Health employee awarded scholarship

Rockford, Ill (WTVO) — Holly Mitchell-Brewer, a certified medical assistant for UW Health, has been awarded the ‘Andrea Adams, BSN, Memorial Scholarship’ a $2,000 scholarship designed to support UW Health employees aspiring to become registered nurses.

“The nursing shortage nationwide is one of the biggest challenges in health care right now,” said Barb Aaby, executive director for the Swedish American Health Foundation.

Aaby, emphasized the importance of supporting healthcare workers in their educational pursuits. “It helps to break down any financial barriers they have in continuing their education and to support our teams here.
