Springfield gang member sentenced for stolen gun tied to shootings

A Springfield, Mo., resident with documented connections to a local gang received a federal prison sentence Tuesday for illegally possessing a stolen firearm linked to two shootings.

Jayden Isaac Simmonds, 19, was sentenced by U.S. District Judge M. Douglas Harpool to 5.25 years in federal prison without parole. The sentence followed his conviction for being an unlawful user of a controlled substance while possessing a firearm.

Simmonds pleaded guilty on May 19, 2025. He admitted to having a stolen Smith & Wesson 10mm semiautomatic pistol, acknowledged that he used marijuana daily, and confirmed that he was addicted to fentanyl.
