Missed by inches: Centennial employee survives close call on the job

CENTENNIAL, Colo. (KDVR) — A routine day at work turned terrifying when a close call left one employee narrowly escaping disaster, surviving by mere inches.

A car plowed into a Centennial mattress shop Tuesday evening. Deputies say the crash began just after 5 p.m., as a two-car collision, but one of those vehicles veered off the road and right into the store’s window.

One driver was cited for failure to yield while turning left, but miraculously, no one inside the store or either car was hurt.

Ben Campanella, assistant general manager of Beds By Design, which is located at 7400 S. University Blvd., was inside working.

“I was sitting down at the desk and I heard the big crash behind me. So instinctively I stood up to look out of the blinds,” he said…
