BERNALILLO COUNTY, N.M. (KRQE) –– Heads up mountain lovers. New Mexico Department of Transportation (NMDOT) will be putting up a new gate on Sandia Crest Road, roughly a quarter of a mile past the Sandia Ski Area.
After years of putting up temporary barricades when road conditions are bad, NMDOT says the new permanent gate is about seven miles up the Crest Road.
