Man sentenced to prison for yelling racial slurs and assaulting Spokane Valley store employee

SPOKANE COUNTY, Wash. — A man was sentenced to prison for assaulting and yelling racial slurs at another man in a Spokane Valley store in July.

The Spokane County Prosecutor’s Office says 53-year-old Kurt Boerner was sentenced to 30 months in prison on hate crime and assault charges.

Court documents show that a store employee heard a customer, Boerner, mumbling at him. When the employee asked Boerner what he said, Boerner directed the “N” word at the employee, who is a black man, several times…
