A partial roof collapse at a dental office in Desert Sky Mall in west Phoenix last night disrupted mall operations, according to the Phoenix Fire Department. The incident, reported around 5:30 p.m., damaged a main water line, which led to flooding and disabled the mall’s fire suppression systems, forcing a temporary closure, FOX10 Phoenix reports.

Desert Sky Mall, located at 75th Avenue and West Thomas Road, was quickly evacuated after the partial roof collapse. Witness Bianca Esquer told FOX10 Phoenix that she and the dental office staff noticed cracks spreading across the ceiling after loud popping sounds. Officials suspect that recent intense weather may have contributed to the collapse, though the full extent of the damage and its impact on other businesses in the mall are still under assessment.
