One dead after car crashes into water in Knox County

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WATE) — Two people were taken to a Knoxville hospital late Thursday after a car crashed into water along Badgett Road.

Knox County deputies responded to the 8000 block of Badgett Road around 9:24 p.m. for a single-vehicle crash. Two people were in the car at the time.

The driver was out of the water when deputies arrived and the passenger was rescued after the car submerged, a sheriff’s office spokesperson said.

Both were transported to a nearby hospital. An update on the condition of the two people was not immediately available. More information will be released as the investigation progresses…
