Man arrested after alleged $80K scam against woman in Frankfort

FRANKFORT, Ky. (FOX 56) — A California man was arrested on Wednesday for allegedly posing as a government official in Franklin County.

According to an arrest citation, a resident of Old Harrodsburg Road in Frankfort called authorities after she transferred $80,000 to someone, and then they tried to defraud her of another $100,000.

The woman reported the incident on Oct. 24, and on Oct. 29, officers visited the woman and the man, identifying himself as “Mr. Grey”, called her again, demanding she liquidate $100,00 worth of her stocks to resolve the issue, according to the citation.

He reported told her it was the only way for her to regain her identity, and if she didn’t, her financial assets would be frozen…
