Georgetown nursing home subject of 6 wrongful death, negligence lawsuits

GEORGETOWN, Ky. (FOX 56) — A Georgetown nursing home is at the center of multiple active lawsuits alleging negligence and wrongful death.

Court records obtained by FOX 56 show that at the time of writing, six active cases named Dover Manor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center as a defendant. The litigation dated back to 2021 and was filed on behalf of six dead victims.

The latest lawsuit was filed in September on behalf of Judy Sowder. She was admitted as a resident in September 2024 and subsequently died two months later, court documents said.

The case file said that Sowder experienced “accelerated deterioration of her health and physical condition” besides the normal aging process. Specifically citing the “egregious delay in hospitalization” led to septic shock and her eventual death…
