Alabama teacher of the year caught on camera ‘whipping her young son’

An Alabama second-grade teacher, once named co-teacher of the year, was allegedly caught on video brutally beating her child with a belt.

Nicole Staples, a teacher at Cottage Hill Christian Academy in Mobile, was charged Wednesday with willful abuse of a child under 18, according to the Mobile County Sheriff’s Office.

The graphic video shows Staples allegedly hitting her adolescent son, whose face is blurred, with a belt over 20 times. The disturbing footage shows Staples leaning over her adolescent son as she screams in his face over not cleaning up after himself. Staples then appears to inflict a barrage of harsh spankings across her son’s backside as he screams in pain into the couch he lies across.
