Longtime Conway Fire Department chief retires

CONWAY, S.C. (WBTW) — Longtime Conway Fire Department Chief Phillip L. “Le” Hendrick Jr. celebrated his retirement this week, the department said on Facebook.

Hendrick started his journey with the CFD in 1994 as a cadet before becoming a volunteer firefighter in 1996. Throughout his career, he served in numerous roles, including firefighter and emergency management to leadership positions.

He was also honored as Conway Fire’s Firefighter of the Year in 1997.

“Thank you, Chief Hendrick, for your dedication to educating our community and mentoring the next generation of firefighters,” CFD’s post reads. “We wish you the very best in your retirement!”…
