After months of preparation, the historic ocean liner SS United States is scheduled to be deployed in the Gulf in early 2026 and Escambia County tourism dollars will help pay for it to become the world’s largest artificial reef.
The ship has been docked in Mobile, Alabama while undergoing remediation for an environmentally safe deployment and is now in the inspection phase.
