Lake Worth Beach Community Mourns After 2-Year-Old Fatally Struck by Truck, Family Highlights Safety Concerns

A tragic incident unfolded this week in Lake Worth Beach, where a two-year-old boy, Cristian Felipe Andres, was struck and killed by a pickup truck. The collision occurred Tuesday evening as Cristian was crossing an intersection with his mother, who had moments earlier instructed him to head towards a van that would take them to church, as detailed in a CBS12 News report. Cristian emerged from in front of a parked car when a 2001 Dodge Ram 1500, making a turn onto 10th Avenue South, hit him.

The child was transported to St. Mary’s Medical Center but succumbed to his injuries. In a statement obtained by CBS12 News, the victim’s aunt, Juana Andres, expressing her family’s deep sorrow, said, “It’s very deeply sad, losing child. He was still a baby, and to the mother, it was like her very precious child, her baby. It was her child, her young child, losing him. She didn’t expect losing him that soon.” Further compounding the family’s grief, Juana Andres highlighted an ongoing safety issue at the site of the accident—a malfunctioning streetlight that had been reported but not logged by the city’s utilities department.

The Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office confirmed the driver of the truck cooperated with investigators and no alcohol or drugs were indicated in the crash. The incident has activated a wave of community support, including the establishment of a GoFundMe to assist Cristian’s family with expenses, according to a WPBF interview…
