New Mexico man gets over 21 years for trafficking fentanyl

EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — A New Mexico man was sentenced on Wednesday, Nov. 19, to over 21 years in prison for trafficking around 1.5 kilograms of fentanyl, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Western District of Texas.

According to court documents, 43-year-old Edgar Omar Martinez, of Anthony, New Mexico, was arrested on March 14 after FBI agents seized around 17,000 fentanyl pills from his vehicle.

Further investigation revealed that Martinez received the pills from a co-conspirator two weeks before the seizure. Martines was expected to be paid $3,200 for his participation in the drug trafficking conspiracy, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office…
