NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) – A 97-year-old World War II veteran wants his legacy to include a special memorial for all of those who served.
Army veteran Benny Robichaux put a year of his heart into building a detailed model of the memorial he hopes to construct in front of the Southeast Louisiana Veterans Home in Reserve. Every intricate detail from the railings to the grass was crafted by hand.
“All the rails and all that’s all cut all by hand. You know, so that takes time. So, you have a lot of patience. I got patience,” Robichaux said.
