Eugene-Springfield once again site of immigration enforcement activity

At approximately 11:30 a.m. on Nov. 19, dozens of federal law enforcement officials surrounded a gold GMC Sonoma at the intersection of 31st Street and Pierce Parkway in Springfield as part of a series of immigration crackdowns across the Eugene metropolitan area.

A 25-year-old Eugene woman leaving the parking lot of the Willamette National Forest office was swarmed by multiple unmarked police vehicles and masked agents carrying what appeared to be guns and mace.

“They had crazy weapons. We’re civilians, we’ve never been broken out of prison or like, it just seemed so over the top and I just couldn’t believe what was happening,” the woman said in an interview with The Register-Guard…
