BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WBMA) — Birmingham Mayor Randall Woodfin released a statement reflecting on the life and legacy of Melva Langford, the widow of former Birmingham mayor Larry Langford, following news of her passing.
In his remarks, Woodfin described Mrs. Langford as “a gracious, caring woman who loved her community,” noting her long-standing involvement in public service and her role as First Lady of the city during her husband’s tenure. He highlighted her dedication to Birmingham and her partnership with Mayor Langford throughout his time in office.
Woodfin said Mrs. Langford would be missed by all who had the opportunity to know her and offered condolences to her family and friends. “May God bless her family and friends in this time of her passing,” he said.
