This week, Irondale removed the dome from the former Zamora Temple to make way for the new Irondale Civic Center.
It’s the end of an era for one of the Birmingham metro’s famous landmarks. Irondale, which bought the temple and 105 acres in 2022 for $5 million, is renovating it into a civic center that’s set to open in 2026.
