Hollywood Honors Chadwick Boseman with Posthumous Walk of Fame Star
Hollywood, CA – The late Chadwick Boseman, beloved for his iconic roles in “Black Panther” and “42,” was posthumously honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on Thursday. The emotional ceremony saw his widow, Simone Ledward Boseman, share profound insights into the actor’s creative spirit and enduring legacy.
Simone Ledward Boseman, who married the acclaimed actor privately before his passing on August 28, 2020, described her husband as “a spiritual teacher fortified by a family and close friends that kept him grounded in faith.” In a heartfelt speech, she reflected on Boseman’s immense heart, stating, “Chad taught all of us a great deal. His heart was so vast he could give each and every person a specific part of him and still have so much left to share with the world.”
The ceremony, attended by notable figures including “Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom” co-star Viola Davis and “Black Panther” director Ryan Coogler, highlighted the lasting impact of Boseman’s work and character. Ledward Boseman noted the serendipitous nature of his star’s number, 2828, seeing it as a continuing sign that her husband is “still teaching.”
She concluded her moving tribute by saying, “You lived with honor and you walked in truth. You are as brilliant as you were beautiful and as courageous as you were kind. We love you, we miss you, we thank you.”
In a poignant moment, Ledward Boseman then shared Boseman’s own “Instructions for Creative Work,” a powerful testament to his artistic philosophy:
“Write the vision and make it plain. Keep that word fastened in your journal and shut it in your bolted drawer until the appointed time.
Let the ideas, the visions that God gives you, fester inside of you. Let the word that he has put inside of you bubble over.
Do not speak it to another until the time appointed by God. The secrecy of the vision is the second stone laid in the building process.
It is the project’s fortress, for a word spoken too early on the ears of men is a bulldozer and a stumbling block. Forget the self that entered the process and be made into a new creature through the work.”
For the star’s unveiling, Simone Ledward Boseman was joined by Boseman’s brothers, Kevin Boseman and Derrick Boseman, alongside Viola Davis and Ryan Coogler. The star, fittingly placed in the movies category, can be found at 6904 Hollywood Blvd., directly in front of the Hollywoodland Experience store.
