$108M UTEP housing complex approved to meet high demand

EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — The University of Texas System Board of Regents approved this week the construction of a new $108 million student housing complex at UTEP.

This comes after high demand for more housing on campus. UTEP housing has been at 100 percent capacity for the last four consecutive years, according to the university.

“More and more students and families are putting their trust in a UTEP education, and we’re bursting at the seams, as reflected in our recent record enrollment,” UTEP President Heather Wilson said.

UTEP said the new funding will create a four-story, co-ed dormitory for freshmen with 456 beds in single and double occupancy rooms…
