LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KATV) — The Arkansas Board of Corrections has enacted a new policy that solves a decade-long issue: the question of who is responsible for bringing inmates who have done their time in other states back to Arkansas to serve time for their convictions here.
Ten years ago, the Arkansas Department of Corrections stopped transporting those inmates back to Arkansas because, for some reason, part of a law giving them that responsibility appeared to be mistakenly deleted from the books.
Since 1968, the law had been clear that it was DOC’s responsibility to deliver inmates back to Arkansas…
