Lincoln’s dessert scene shines with High Society Cheesecake, a longtime local favorite celebrated for its rich, handcrafted cheesecakes. From classic New York slices to rotating seasonal flavors, there’s something for every sweet tooth.
High Society Cheesecake, a longtime Lincoln bakery, has drawn national attention to its unusual approach to a classic dessert: scooped cheesecake. Instead of serving traditional slices, the shop offers many of its flavors in cold, ice-cream-style scoops. A simple twist that has reshaped how customers experience the rich, dense treat.
Marcus Morris, the owner of High Society Cheesecake, says that creating a unique and welcoming experience was the inspiration behind the bakery.
“As soon as the cheesecake idea was born, so was the idea to call it High Society Cheesecake and so kind of the swing in on that is when you come in, like our goal is to treat you like high society,” Morris said.
High Society Cheesecake offers a variety of products, including traditional cheesecakes, dipped cheesecakes, cheesecake sandwiches and scoopable cheesecakes. The scoopable version was first created in 2017 for a catering event and later reintroduced. Today, rotating flavors are featured monthly, often inspired by social media trends or customer suggestions.
The journey to founding High Society Cheesecake didn’t start in a bakery – it started in a college dorm room. While studying psychology with plans to go into counseling, Morris often found himself drawn to the kitchen instead of the classroom. Mixing ingredients late at night between study sessions, he discovered that baking cheesecakes brought him the same sense of purpose that counseling once did.
High Society Cheesecake is more than a business; it’s a tribute to Marcus Morris’s roots. Coming from a family of firefighters, Morris designed the shop to honor that legacy. The exterior is wrapped in dark, burnt wood, giving it a fire-touched look. Inside, the names of his great-grandfathers and grandfather are carved into the wood above the entrance; a small detail that speaks volumes about the people who came before him and the pride he brings to his work.
High Society’s growth isn’t limited to Lincoln. Its cheesecake sandwiches are now sold in grocery stores from Council Bluffs to Kearney, including Hy-Vee, Russ’s Market and Super Saver…
