Little Rock man facing life in federal prison after fentanyl death

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – A four-day jury trial in federal court in Little Rock ended with a man facing a mandatory life sentence after a fentanyl death.

Officials said 43-year-old Arthur Joyner sold three fentanyl pills to a man for $30. He told the man, who wanted painkillers for back pain, that the pills were oxycodone, according to officials.

The next day, the man took one of the pills at a hotel in Searcy and then snorted a second pill the next morning. Minutes later, he stopped breathing, the jury was told.

The jury convicted Joyner of distribution of fentanyl resulting in death after 45 minutes of deliberation. Because he has a series of felony drug and violence convictions prior to the trial, he is facing a mandatory life sentence, officials said, adding that sentencing will take place at a later date…
