Two additional tort claims against Boise School District turn into federal cases

BOISE, Idaho (CBS2) — Idahonews.com has been investigating several tort claims that have been filed this year against the Boise School District (BSD). Earlier this week, we reported that 15 separate tort claims have been filed against BSD this year so far. As part of that ongoing investigation, we have confirmed that at least two additional tort claims filed last year have now turned into federal cases.

BSD Superintendent Lisa Roberts replied to questions from Idahonews.com, saying that the number of tort claims filed is not indicative of a systemic issue, but rather appears to be the result of “coordinated efforts involving a small group of attorneys and a former employee.”

Idaho Department of Education Superintendent Debbie Critchfield responded, in part, by saying, “I’d caution anyone against drawing broad conclusions about an entire district based on individual cases. There is always work to do, but it’s neither accurate nor productive to suggest every aspect of the district is failing.”…
