On Friday, the Truckee Police Department announced that Gordon Simons, 62, of Truckee, was found dead. He had been reported missing after family members said they had not been in contact with him. Last week, TPD said they partnered with the Nevada County Sheriff’s Office to search a popular hiking location near Simon’s residence.

TPD did not specify the hiking location. However, Simon’s remains were found near Highway 89 South and the Union Pacific Railroad tracks.
According to TPD, there is no evidence of foul play or suspicious circumstances. Even still, Simon’s death remains under investigation…
