ANCHORAGE, Alaska (KTUU) – A former Anchorage resident was sentenced to serve 15 years in prison Friday after investigators reopened a cold case from a crime that happened 30 years ago.
Last May, a jury found 53-year-old Ronald Fischer guilty of a sexual assault that happened in 1995. According to the state, Fischer grabbed a then 17-year-old girl in East Anchorage as she was walking home from a friend’s house, dragged her to an area behind a nearby restaurant and raped her.
Police collected evidence including a sexual assault kit but, according to the state, the DNA in the kit was never tested and no suspect was identified…
