The Metropolitan Baptist Church is one of many partners working with the Regional Food Bank for Thanksgiving meals this year.
“We’ve done Thanksgiving baskets, but it was on a smaller scale. We were able to give between 500 to 600 baskets in the past. But this allows us, this partnership allows us to expand our impact.” said Brittany Peoples, Chief Operating Officer at the church. The church said that their goal is to feed between 1,500 and 3,000 families in the giveaway on the 22nd.
“No more critical time than now and to be able to provide food and nourishment during the Thanksgiving holiday, given all the things in the climate that we are in, in terms of the political climate and the things that are impacting those who have the greatest needs for food.” added Don Applyrs, Director of Communications for the church.
