Arrest made in Charlotte killing of 17-year-old student found shot dead in car

CHARLOTTE (QUEEN CITY NEWS) – Authorities have made an arrest in the murder of 17-year-old Navaeh Carter, a Monroe-area student who was found shot inside a vehicle at a north Charlotte intersection back in May.

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police detectives have identified Tracoby Meeks, 20, as a suspect in the case. He’s been arrested and charged with murder and felony conspiracy.

The deadly shooting happened just before 2 a.m. on May 31, 2025, when CMPD officers were called to the intersection of North Graham Street and Craighead Road. When they arrived, they found Carter in a vehicle suffering from gunshot wounds…
