COLUMBIA, S.C. (WSPA) – The South Carolina Department of Public Health (DPH) reported three new cases of measles, bringing the total to 52 in the ongoing Upstate outbreak.
Two of the cases are said to be household members of known cases, while the third is the result of unknown transmission. All three cases are under the age of 18.
The DPH stated that of the 52 cases, 46 of them are people under the age of 18, with 10 of them reported to be under the age of 5. 49 are reported to be unvaccinated, and two were partially vaccinated with one of the two-dose MMR vaccine.
2025 Upstate Measles Outbreak
In addition to the new cases, the DPH is warning the public to a confirmed case of measles in an employee at the Greenville Spartanburg International Airport, who may have exposed visitors to the virus from November 10-11.
