Richland sheriff’s deputy strikes pedestrian while trying to stop a motorist

A Richland County Sheriff’s deputy struck a pedestrian while trying to stop a vehicle that ran a red light, the sheriff’s office said.

About 6:20 p.m. Thursday, a deputy, who was not identified by the department, saw a motorist run a red light. The deputy activated his emergency lights in an attempt to stop the motorist.
