State’s handling of limestone from Boring Company tunnel project faces new questions

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) – A state lawmaker is raising concerns that Tennessee may have effectively given valuable state-owned limestone to Elon Musk’s Boring Company as it builds the Music City Loop and now plans to buy it back with taxpayer money.

Equipment is now in place in Nashville to begin tunneling for the Music City Loop, a proposed 10-mile underground transportation system. The extensive digging required for the project will unearth tons of limestone.

State Representative John Ray Clemmons, a Nashville Democrat, argues that this valuable rock lies beneath state land, and therefore, should remain state property.
